Thrifting

A couple weeks ago I went thrift shopping in Vallejo with my friend Elka. Here are some of the treasures we spotted.

Providence Wedding

One of my closest friends from college got married earlier this month, and her wedding was so fantastic I had to share it with you. Brooke and her husband Matt tied the knot at AS220 a gallery space in Providence that is run by a non-profit organization that provides residencies for artists, equipment and classes for the public, and puts on great shows. The wedding was the result of Brooke and Matt's vision and hard work, as well as the help of their many talented friends.

The cupcakes were made by our friend Robyn, and the chuppah was constructed by other friends and decorated with thousands of paper flowers that Brooke and her friends made (which were donated to the local children's hospital after the big day).

The focal point of the event was the gorgeous series of hand-silkscreened posters that Brooke and Matt made themselves, which covered every wall.

Brooke covered the tables with her colorful collection of vintage bed linens.

Here's the bride with our friends Erik and Shawn.

Last but not least, here are the invitations, designed by Brooke and Matt, which I printed.

Renegade

I took my wares to the Renegade craft fair in SF a couple weeks ago, and it was a lot of fun. Here's a pic of the booth set up.

This pic is of some bits of ephemera that I had stashed behind our table: a postcard from Kelly at Little Paper Planes, my own "Gooseberries" card, a bookmark cut from a poster I purchased from Mat Daly, and a business card from Timber!.

Peachy Keen

My friend Max and I went peach picking last weekend in Brentwood. Stay tuned to my recipe blog for the clafoutis we made from our pickings!

Pattern at Target

Here are some pretty green patterns I found in the stationery section at Target the other day. Pardon the lousy pic!

Inspiration

Here are some pictures I've downloaded from the web over the last month or so for inspiration. I'm not sure where all of them came from (Ebay, Google Images?), but I do know that the little globe, mug, and pennants are from Three Potato Four. Keep an eye out, you may see some of these things pop up in Pie Bird Press merchandise one of these days!

Bathing Beauties

I am thinking about a movie with Brittany Murphy in which she played a rock star's daughter who suddenly has to learn to support herself? Somehow she falls in love with (shock!) another rock star, who writes a song for her about "sheets of Egyptian cotton" with a high thread count... am I the only one who remembers this? Now whenever my thoughts turn to linens (as they are wont to do), I get that horrible song stuck in my head. Which brings us to the point: I love having a full linen closet! It feels so luxurious to look in on shelves piled high with fluffy towels and soft sheets... I recently added these towels from Pottery Barn to my collection, in the turquoise, of course.

Back in Business

I'm back! I admit that I have been away from this blog for so long now that I'm not even sure where to start... I will try to do some catching up, but first I'd like to share this glass from Urban Outfitters that I'm admiring. Do you think I can make a set of them work with my kitchen? I always need more glasses.

I am also loving these little spice jars (that come on their own enamel rack),

and these Kashmiri trays (I want the green one!).

Pardon My Dust

I'm afraid I must apologize once again for neglecting this blog. The truth of the matter is that between the heatwave we've been having, my consistently chaotic personal life (not in a bad way, don't worry!), and the upswing in business since the Stationery Show, I've been devoting every spare minute to staring off into space. This picture was taken the other evening from the dog park, where I did just that for some time. I promise that soon enough, I will be all post-happy again, but in the meantime, please bear with me while I breathe...

Pitcher Perfect

My last post reminded me that I never showed you my full creamer collection! As you can see, I've completely run out of room on the shelf. I'm working on a better way to display them...

Dish

Yesterday I went to the semi-annual Art Deco sale in San Francisco. It was pretty disheartening to see how the economy has affected this sort of show... it was all the buzz at the trade shows this year as well, but I was especially sad to see only about 2/3 of the usual vendors here, and therefore only 2/3 of the gorgeous vintage goods that are usually on display. I did luck out, though, with this amazing set of Iroquois china! It was a steal, and I love it, particularly the serving pieces. You know how much I love creamers- look at this gorgeous one! I can't wait for my next dinner party.

At Long Last

Hi! I'm so sorry I've been bad about posting lately. The truth is that I've been busier than I can ever remember being in my life! That didn't stop me from visiting Alameda Point this morning, and here are some of the things that caught my eye.
