The last few weeks, Marina and I have been gradually moving things from my old shop, into my house. We've set up the office for the most part now, and soon the presses and other printing equipment will move into the garage. Here are a couple pics from the office, showing some of my vintage printing toys among other things...

A Cherry on Top
Here's an amazing little pot from Arabia, covered in cherries! Click here for the auction, which ends in 4 days, shipping from Australia...
The same seller has a couple of other pots that are equally cute.

Dinner is Served
I have been collecting vintage cookbooks for years, keeping them carefully organized by subject matter ("Man-Pleasers," "Bananas," "Outdoor Entertaining," etc.), but I have never actually made any of the lurid recipes within them. Then last month, my friend Jenn discovered this Flickr pool, dedicated to producing "Mid Century Suppers," and we decided we should give it a go. Here are some pictures of the meal we served. The diptychs show the photo from the original cookbook on the left, with our version on the right. I was especially excited to finally make the "Meatloaf Train," which has always been one of my most prized recipes. I should note that the cake was decorated by a very capable 10-year old. We also served cheese fondue with the canapes, but I didn't get a good pic.
Pink and Green
When I was about 9 years old, my best friend Louisa and my favorite colors were pink and green, which led us to become obsessed with watermelons. We envisioned a dream house where we would live as adults, shaped like a giant surfboard, and decorated entirely in pink and green (with black accents). This house also included an ice cream parlor, pizzeria, and movie theater- it was much like a cruise ship, in fact. Somewhere in the last 20 or so years, my idea of a dream house changed, as did my taste in color, but I still have ended up with a pink and green bedroom! I like how all my belongings tell a story; this lamp is part of a collection I have, which I gathered all over the country when I was in college.

Thank You!
Thank you so much for all your comments on my last post. I loved getting some feedback, and I hope you will be encouraged to comment more when there is something you really like or dislike. I want to address a couple of specific issues you mentioned: first, my not posting links to Ebay items. I generally only post links when there is more than a day left in the auction, or if it looks like the auction might be relisted. It always makes me sad to click on a link to an Ebay item and find it's already gone! But in the future, I'd be happy to post the links, and I'll let you know how much time is left to bid. Also, I had completely forgotten to post pictures of the finished bathroom! I'll have to do that this week. Thanks for the reminder. I'll also post a little more about me, and my business soon. Again, I really appreciate your taking the time to comment and I hope to hear more from you from now on!
This is a picture of the flowers I bought today, on the trunk of my car: protea, narcissus, ranuculas, and lilacs... oh, lilacs! In Providence it wasn't spring until the lilacs bloomed, and they were all over town, making the streets smell heavenly. I wish they grew better here in California.

Hello readers! I know that many of you prefer not to comment on my posts, but I'd really love to hear some feedback. For those of you who don't know, there are a few different ways you can comment: you can be completely anonymous, or you can give your name but no website or link, OR, you can provide your name and a link to your own page or profile. What I'd like to hear about is my content. Are you bored with my Ebay finds? Would you prefer to see more pictures of my home? Are you curious to hear more about my work? Is there a certain direction you wish I would go in? At this point I pretty much just blog about anything that catches my eye, but since I rarely hear from you, I have no idea if that appeals to more than just me. So please, leave your comments below! I'd love to hear from you.

Brights
I just got the new Pottery Barn catalog in the mail, and I am amazed by the gorgeous colors and patterns they have in their summer collection! Check it out:
The prints on this bedding look just like 1970's Vera to me.

In the Bedroom
Call for Pillow Cases!
I am looking for vintage (or just used and soft) pillow cases for a project, so if anyone has one they're willing to part with, I'd be much obliged. I specifically need ones that are in the blue/ green color range, and I'd prefer ones with patterns over solids. If you're interested in sharing, please contact me at deerseason87@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sheets and More Sheets
I was able to acquire the Jonathan Adler sheets on Ebay for half the retail price (!), but now I am also considering these ones from John Robshaw as well... Can't hurt to have an extra set, right? My only question is whether they are too similar to the Adlers.
